Walking Club
 
Members of Pontarddulais Walking Club would like to thank Group Walk Leader Geraint Owain Price for leading the trek to the Gwaun Valley and its environs. The group had a lunch stop at Penlan Uchaf Garden Centre, were the group enjoyed a bowl of home made cawl.During the lunch break the group enjoyed the scenery of the Preseli Hills and the picturesque Gwaun Valley. The group also visited the highest situated pub in Pembrokshire,the world famous Tafarn Y Sinc.The group also visited the rural village of Pontfaen who to this day celebrate new year according to the Julian Calendar on the 13th of January. Club members also thank Gareth Jones for leading the trek to the Gwendraeth Mawr Valley.
 
Quiz Team
 
Hendy RFC Quiz team beat a knowledgeable Ivy Bush Llandybie team last week. Captain Neil Lewis unexpectedely dropped one of his loyal team members namely, Geraint Owain Price to the role of Question Master. Man of the match was veteran David Eric Halsall, also in the team supporting Eric was Spike Thomas and Peter Davies.
 
Hendy Pool
 
Last week Hendy Pool was on Wedi 7 on S4C and there was a very good showing of old photographs with Clive James, Luther Thomas, Ray Palmer,  Roy Davies,  Joan Wiltshire, Dorian Williams, Christine Toth and Richard Toth all giving a good account of the history of the pool and their fond memories.
The pool committee met on Tuesday of last week Ierian James a county officer came to speak to them to discuss drawing the plans for the regeneration of the park, all the items that are in these plans were shown and discussed previously at the two day public consultation for the feasibility study that Hyder Consultants had conducted for the pool committee last year, however once the plans have been drawn up the community council and then the pool commitee would be able to comment next month, it was decided that a further consultation should be considered where the plans could be shown on display, pool committee members and interested parties are adviced the next meeting to discuss the plans of the park regeneration will be Tuesday 10th February 2009 in Arlan Gwili.
 
NOSON LAWEN
 
Hendy aelwyd will hold it's annual Noson Lawen on the 28th February at the Pontarddulais comprehensive school hall. Artists will include the popular folk singer Dafydd Iwan a'r band, the country and western duo -Iona ac Andy, with the comedienne -Gillian Elisa, and local choir Cor Waunarlwydd.  Tickets are just £8 and the concert will begin at 7.00. Proceeds to the aelwyd. This promises to be one of the best yet. Tickets are now available
