My words of wisdom are it always pays to shop around?

I've been using the AA  .............no I not an alcoholic ....... its the other AA the car one  

anyway I've been with them for some time now about four years and every year they send a renewal and I go on line and I often get about £100 saved on the AA Internet compared to the renewal they send me

Well this year my heart missed a beat  when I opened the quote,

it was in excess of £500, So today i done my annual routine i went on line and filled out all my details and on hitting the get quote button, a prompt appeared please accept a telephone call you will be rung within two minutes

On hitting the button my phone rung on the desk within 20 seconds and there was an advisor on the end of the line, so I went through the renewal quote and she kindly done me a better deal about £60 knocked off, very generous of her I thought 

I declined the offer and went back on line because in previous years i've saved £100 or more on the AA Internet service, even though I'm with the AA as an existing customer.

I went back through the system and hit the get a quote button and the same prompt

MMMHHHHH ............I AIN'T DOING THAT AGAIN

so i thought who shall i try and I remembered that advert i had seen last night you now the one that famous magian, Paul something......... Paul Daniels .....he's walking down the street talking about how he can persuade you to pick an insurance comparison site and there's a big red double decker driving down the road behind him with a Tesco advert and a plane flying in the sky pulling a tail banner

Yes Tescos, i thought I'll give them a little bit of my wages, because the company are telling us theres a recession on which is why the staffing numbers are looking so grim lol

So i log onto the Tesco site and entered the same details and wow I'm impressed it did the trick 15 quotes all under 300 with some giving almost a 50% saving,

i did check because some weren't offering legal cover or no claims discout, so i ended up browsing a few of the quotes and sites and adding some of the extras and i ended up with an insurance fully comp with a courtesy car which the AA weren't giving me for a massive £185 saving on the best price that the AA could give me

So it pays to spend an hour shopping around as my bank balance will be a little healthier now that i've changed companies.
