Hendy News


NOSON LAWEN
 
Hendy aelwyd will hold it's annual Noson Lawen on the 28th February at the Pontarddulais comprehensive school hall. Artists will include the popular folk singer Dafydd Iwan a'r band, the country and western duo -Iona ac Andy, with the comedienne -Gillian Elisa, and local choir Cor Waunarlwydd.  Tickets are just £8 and the concert will begin at 7.00. Proceeds to the aelwyd. This promises to be one of the best yet. A small number of tickets are still available please ring 01792 884036 to secure your tickets.
 
 
Hendy Pool Committee
 
 
The next meeting will be held in Arlan Gwili on Tuesday 10th February at 7pm, if you are interested in what the plan design for the regeneration of the park looks like or think you can help the organisation in any way then please come along. A county Ofiicer has been drawing a design of the park for the community council and the pool committee to consider, based on the feedback from the feasibility consultation that took place last year.
 
 
Pontarddulais walking club
 
 
Members would like to thank Bethina Lawrence for taking the trek to Llangennith and Rhossili on St Dwynwen's Day. The weather relented after an overnights deluge of rain and the sunny day that followed was very much appreciated. Club secretary Mr Alan Richards has announced that the range of hills to be undertaken in Snowdonia will be the Nantlle Ridge. Mr Dennis Sheehan has also announced a planned trip to Dorset and visit to see the Cerne Giant is on the agenda of the next programme. Walkers and new members are welcomed, the club meet on Sunday mornings at the Pontarddulais Library car park, the club has a web site with lots of photos of past walks on   http://www.pontarddulaiswalkingclub.com/

Quiz team captain Mr Neil Lewis was delighted with the teams performance in the defeat of the Red Cow Inn Llandybie. Veteran Mr David Halsall had a splendid Sports Round which had a bearing in the teams win. Spike Thomas was as consistent as ever in the Entertainment's Round and the general knowledge was left to Peter Davies and Geraint Owain Price.
