Pontarddulais and Hendy Carnival
The local carnival will be 40 years old this year, already there has been lots of organising of the event last month the carnival committee met with Pontarddulais Town Council and Llanedi Community Council. This week the Pontarddulais town council reported back to the carnival committee that they will support the birthday celebrations by organising a concert the Saturday before carnival 21st June at Coedbach with a hog roast afterwards. They are also going to put on a quiz evening at the Institute with a trophy for the winners on the evening of Wed 25th June.
Hendy RFC Quiz team
The team finished the season on a rather disappointing note when they lost to the King Hotel in the Handicap Cup. The team had no complaints in losing to the King Hotel because they were a very sporting and learned side indeed, and Hendy wish their opponents the best of luck for the rest of the tournament. The main squad of players for the Hendy Rugby Club consisted of skipper Neil Lewis, Michael Thomas (Spike), Peter Davies, Gary Bowen and Geraint Owain Price, all deserve the summer recess to rest their brains, before next season, but who knows they might decide to rise to the challenge and test their knowledge in the carnival birthday trophy quiz night. Anybody interested in joining the side next season, please do not hesitate to contact any of the mentioned names above or drop me an email and I’ll pass on your info to the team.
