Quiz
Hendy RFC Quiz team have had two exciting matches recently with both games going to the wire, resulting in draw games against Pontarddulais Cricket Club and Pantyffynon Social Club respectively. Skipper Neil Lewis has had to make some controversial decisions along the way in the games and at times because of tension with the results being close he has had to calm some of the member down after announcing team tacticts. Squad members during the matches were veteran David Halsall, Peter Davies, Spike Thomas and Geraint Owain Price.
Community Policing Team
The new community policing meetings where residents can share concerns with the community with police and councillors are being held the first Monday of every month at Llangennech Community Hall between 6pm and 7pm, all are welcome.

Walking Club
Pontarddulais Walking Club would like to thank Mr Dennis Sheehan for leading the trek to Kilgetty.A big thanks also to Margaret Thomas for leading the trek to the Brecknock Beacons. Half of the club members decided the prevailing conditions were not conducive to walking and decided to stay at Mynydd Illtud Mountain Centre. The intrepid few followed Margaret into snowy blizzard conditions to complete the trek, and a big thanks to her for returning all the trekkers to the safe sanctuary of the Mountain Centre safe and well. At the end of March Mr Terry Evans is leading a trek to the Pembrokshire Coast to the scene of the last foreign invasion on British soil at Carreg Wastad Point on the Pencaer Peninsula.
Hendy Pool
For those that use the park you will have noticed that the demolishment of the pool has begun the pool fencing has been taken down and some of the park is fenced off whilst work is being carried out, there is a pool meeting scheduled for Tuesday 7th April, also later in the month there will be an AGM and public exhibition where plans for the regeneration on display, a date for this event will be notified closer to the date

Carmarthenshire Volunteer of the Year
Recently Carmarthen County Council invited members of the public to nominate special people from within their community, for their Annual Carmarthenshire Volunteer Awards Ceremony, Local Hendy resident Spike Thomas was nominated and attended the ceremony in Park y Scarlets and was in the final three names, whilst he didn't win it was a big achievement to be name in the final three, Mike was nominated for all the volunteer work that he puts in with the youth sports within the community.
Llanelli District Guide Dogs Association
Llanelli and District Guide Dogs are celebrating their 25th Anniversary this year. They are organising a celebration day in Peoples park Llanelli on 6 June 09. It will be to be a day to remember and they are asking for anyone who would like a stall at this special event to contact them as soon as possible. Stalls start from £10 for a charity organisation with every penny helping the association raise money for this association.
They are also arranging a sponsored walk during the afternoon to raise funds for Guide Dogs and invite you to take part. The walk will follow the path around peoples Park and Old Castle Lake. It will be a walk for all ages and all abilities and you are invited to bring along your own dog although this is optional

Carnival Committee
The next carnival Committee will be on Thursday 19th March at 7.15pm in Pontarddulais Rugby Club, all members old and new will be welcomed to attend, The Carnival day is the last Saturday of the month, however there will be events on all week, like the annual school sports day, the annual Quiz night and the White Springs Croeso Football Cup between the local schools, plus all the usual competitions in the run up to the event, events and competitions will be advertised during April and May
Only Girls Aloud
A group of ladies are forming a new group, it will be a comedy ladies band and they are going to be raising money for local charities, the group are hoping to hold a performance during the carnival in June, if you want to help this group then please ring 07985610169 or 07790520390
