Hendy School
 
The Carmarthenshire Primary Swimming School Gala was held at Llanelli Swimming Pool and twenty eight Schools took part, Hendy were very successful with individual competition success with Conor Taylor coming first and Liam Watkins taking third places overall.
 
Community Policing Team
 
The new community policing meetings where residents can share concerns with the community with police and councillors are being held the first Monday of every month at Llangennech Community Hall between 6pm and 7pm, all are welcome there will be councillors there from hendy and llangennech along with members of the community police team and it is your chance to tell the  team about any issue that is effecting your community, if you have a police issue and didn't want to speak in a public members of the public can always fill out a note or letter and post them to myself or the police team and post them in one of the police community boxes which can be found in one of the local post offices.
 
NOSON LAWEN
 
The Hendy aelwyd Noson lawen to celebrate St David's day was a huge success. It was wonderful to see the Pontarddulais school hall full to capacity for the event which was enjoyed by all. The committee would like to thank everybody who supported us. Make a note in your diary for the Aelwyd Eisteddfod on the 2nd Saturday in May.

Hendy RFC Quiz team
 
Team members welcomed back incumbent skipper Mr Neil Lewis to the side in their splendid win over a knowledgeable Temple Bar Carmel side. A weeks rest did Neil a power of good and was awarded Man of the match accolade for his virtuoso performance.  With only two weeks of the season remaining it looks like the team will finish in a healthy third position in the league table, unless the leaders slip up in the remaining two fixtures. Other team members on the evening were veterans David Halsall,Peter Davies,Geraint Owain Price and the youthful Spike Thomas.

Hendy Pool Committee
 
There is a pool meeting Tuesday 7th April, preparation of the AGM and public exhibition, where plans for the regeneration on display, will be the main item on the agenda, a date for this event will be notified closer to the date.
 
Carnival Committee
 
There was a meeting of the carnival committee last week, with almost a full house of the committee attending, there was only one member missing for this years committee photo for the carnival programme, at the meeting there was lots of discussions about the final preparations for this years carnival. Here is the wording for the Carnival Queen Competition They decided that this year they would judge the Carnival Queen by entry with a photo, so the search is now on for the 2009 Pontarddulais & Hendy Carnival Queen. The competition is open to Girls 11 - 16 at Comprehensive School. To enter, please send a photograph, together with your name, address, age and telephone number to. Mrs. E. Evans, 18 Alltiago Rd.Pontarddulais, Swansea, SA4 8HU. The closing date for entries is Friday 15th May, 2009 - Note the winner must be available on carnival day Saturday 27th June, 2009 and must be either resident in the
Pontarddulais, Hendy and District or at school in Pontarddulais. The winner will receive a prize of £20. Two attendants will receive £10 each. The carnival has become a very busy week with events on every every day throughout the full week before the carnival plus lots of the usual competitions that individuals and schools can participate in, over the coming weeks details of all the events for the week will be published.<%2
