usdaws respect for tesco staff

Had a very busy day today, picked Gavin up in Ammanford about 10.45am and arrived in tesco llanelli, to meet Nia Griffith Llanelli MP and Catherine Thomas AM for Llanelli, to promote the new agreement that Tesco and Usdaw have signed up to about tolerance of verbal abuse to staff. Geoff the local photographer for the local paper turned up to take the photo.

Then after a quick discussion about several issues on going in the village, had three to sort out, myself and Gavin dashed off to Milford Haven. First stop was a small co-op on route after 40 minutes in the co-op, where we had a very positive response as we signed up some new members and a new rep for usdaw, as they currently didn't have a rep and only had 5 members in a store of 32

We called in Kwik Save and the most complaints came from the store manager, we had to phone our Area Organisor to sort his queries, because his store was a somerfield until recently and had just changed its name to Kwik Save which has only just had a new management buy out, we understand its only into their second week of the new structure and there are lots of issues around the TUPE transfer of terms and conditions, two members of staff were phoned at home and came in to see us about these new terms as well, Bippin promised he would call in to discuss concerns the next time he was in West Wales.

We then headed off to Milford Haven Tesco, most of the evening twighlight crew there had been spoken to on our last visit, however we were tipped that they had agreed to take on nine new starters and the induction was next Tuesday. After dropping Gavin off home i got home just gone 9.15pm, absolutely shatterd because i had clocked up more than 200 miles since 9am this morning, from driving home from the girlfriends, then dashing to Ammanford before doubling back to Llanelli and then Milford Haven
