public meeting

Having conducted a feasibility study last year for the pool and park area, and analysing the results, the outcome was that a community park was definately the prefered option with 98% of the respondees stating they would prefer a community park.

As a result of this the county council and pool committee have since drawn up plans for redevelopment of the park, with the top items selected in the feasibility consultation included in the plans.

We set up a public exhibition for one week in the rugby club, and on the very first evening two families had arrived and spoke to myself before the plans were even set up for display and i've had 8 more phones calls by residents to discuss the proposals, i was told by staff at the rugby club that hundreds had called to the club over the week to view the plans.

I had leaflet dropped more than 800 houses advertising the public exhibition plus the event was advertised on face book and the llanelli star.

The local paper also arrived and took a photo of the display and plan on reporting on the public meeting with a story

The photo was kindly taken by the local press photographer on my camera, it has myself and Anthony one of the pool committee members looking at the display and plans.

The public meeting in the Urdd Hall took place tonight, the annual audited accounts were presented by the treasurer to those that attended and a proposition was moved and accepted that all of the funds raised by the pool committee be transfered to the community council.

This is because the community council is VAT registered and we have found a grant that the community council would be eligible to apply for and the community council had already agreed that if we gave them funds to develop the park they would use them as part of the match funding process to enable them to draw down a very reasonable grant to redevelop the park

People often ask what have we done with the money raised by the community, well last night we produced audited accounts showing that the pool committee were in possession of over 17 and a half thousand pounds and the public that attended agreed to transfer this money to the community council to be ring fenced for Hendy Park and to be spent on the regeneration of the park.
