Hendy Senior Citizen's
Chairman Mr Roy Evans welcomed all members to their meeting, and it the proceeded with everyone saying the Lord's Prayer. Mr Evans then reported with an appologies and update on several missing members who were abscent due to ill health. The Secretary, Mr Rheidol Williams read the minutes of the previous meeting, there were no matters arising, and no correspondence to be dealt with. In a previous meeting it had been suggested that members would enjoy an afternoon meal in place of a whole days excursion, the Secretary agreed to make enquiries on behalf of members, and report back to the next meeting with dates and venues, when a final decision would be made. The Chairman then introduced Mr Ian Lewis, a very talented singer and musician. He sang a variety of music and played several old time favourites to the delight of the members, in which they sang along with Ian, bringing back happy memories. The President Mr Vivian Preece gave the vote of thanks to Ian on members behalf and also commenting on Ian's talent and willingness to always support the Senior Citizens when asked. The raffle was drawn, with the winners being Rheidol, Mary, Viv and Elna. Refreshments were served, which ended the meeting.
Hendy Senior Citizens meet every other week at the Urdd Hall Hendy. New members will always be welcomed, so why not go along and spend a pleasant afternoon, meeting new and old friends from within the community.

Pontarddulais Walking Club
Members would like to thank Mr ILLtyd LLoyd for leading a trek to the Cwmdeuddwr Mountains. On a beautiful sunny and glorious spring day the group of intrepid walkers met at the isolated and tranquil hamlet of Abergwesyn.The group had lunch on the mountainside of Drygan Fawr and visited the neolithic cairns of the area. A big tribute goes to ILLTYD for his selection of this trek in the most beautiful and isolated area of Wales. The club and its members now look forward to the annual invasion of Snowdonia. Club secretary Mr Alan Richards has had a book recently published about walks in the Carmarthenshire area and members eagerly wait its reading and discovering the walks of the county
Carnival
Now's the time to start thinking about part in Pontarddulais & Hendy carnival on Saturday 27th June, 2009. Public meeting
There was a a public exhibition in the rugby club for a week followed by a public meeting in the Urdd Hall on the Thursday evening, At the meeting residents were able to view the plans that have been drawn up and were able to meet members of the pool committee and an officer from the lesuire department of the county council, who explained about the various grants that have been identified that will probably be accessible to achieve the project, the public were also given a report on the annual accounts of the pool committee. It was explained that there was a grant that the community council could apply for in partnership with the county council and pool committee. The meeting accepted unaminously that the pool committee should transfer its funds to to the community council, so that they could use the funds raised to apply for grants in partnership and that the money would be ring fenced for Hendy Park and can only be spend in this area. One of the conditions also asked was that a memorial explaining the history of the villages Lido's and it's 75years be errected by the 1930's wall that still remains on site
