site meeting of iscoed road and bryngwili road

Today there was a meeting on this road to discuss bus stop issues and parking. There were only Labour councillors present, Mr Mcenvoy the county highways officer, stated that our county councillor had sent his appologies.

Just before the meeting started, I noticed Steve the office manager for Nia Griffith MP, walking to the location, about 15 minutes before, it was raining so i popped up to meet him and he jumped in my car. He said as a regular bus user he had caught the bus to Hendy today, he had been reading up on bus stop signage and had learnt some new stuff in what info they have to carry and the regulations of size of signages etc. He then he asked me about the no through road.

So i popped him down to the ford where cars and vehicles have been getting stuck after following their SAT NAV equipment?

We then left to go to the meeting and John Mcenvoy was already conducting the meeting with about ten residents.

The residents were talking about the volumes of traffic and as if to que and order 11 hgv lorries passed in 4 minutes and on one occassion there was a convoy of three in a row passing one going in the opposite direction, and a bus stopped to drop his passenger off and pulled up across harelyford road blocking the junction for a brief moment.

There was a positive outcome he promised to continue consulting with the butcher and the post office about parking restrictions for their customers, as currently there is never any space for passing trade to stop because of long term park and ride up the m4 corridor to work.

A number of residents also asked for the camera to be returned to the post outside the rugby club, they reckoned that for the short period that it was there it kept the youth trouble under control around the spar area.

We then went with a resident to view the bus stop down the road and he promised to attend another site meeting with the bus company to discuss bus stop locations.

Then we went up to look at the site for the no through road and he stated he would get the sign up ASAP. I then took Steve down to the football feild across the railway at the bottom of Harelyford Road, as this issue was also raised by residents at the meeting and then Steve and I went to look at the Hendy Pool Site.

I took Steve back to the office and had a brew of coffee before heading back to Hendy. Where i called into Dyfed Builders to drop off an invoice for the advert they placed with us in Both Sides, the news letter has been put onto the pontarddulais web page http://www.pontarddulais.com/Hendy%206A.htm

The first edition of both sides is still on the web site http://www.pontarddulais.com/Hendy%206.htm

On coming back from Nia's office, i also dropped off a copy of Both Sides with Mr Fox of Llanelli who had read my weekly column last year and provided us with a copy of a 1936 evening post photo, which has Mrs Fox sitting in the front row as a ten year old watching a bathing beauty contest, you can make her out wearing a white top in the front row behind the fence, just above the second walking beauty contestant from the left

After then calling in Dyfed Builders, i popped up to one of the Cricket club members to find out if they had recieved my emails about the grant searches i had made and found for them. They said they would check the internet later tonight.

It was Usdaw's www.usdaw.org.uk spotlight day today and lots of the reps were doing something in Carmarthen town centre but obviously i had to give todays event a miss because of the planned Hendy meeting.

grant funding

Monday and Tuesday the local labour party were out delivering news letters, i met Vernon in Talycoed and was speaking to a resident who was out his front mixing cement he laying a patio in his back garden, we were talking about Hendy Pool and he gave us a possible contact for grant funding.

I looked on their web site and initial investigation it looks good Hendy falls in the catchment area

http://www.biffaward.org/index.php/casestudies?aid=15

After we finished delivering leaflets, i popped over Vernons to help set up and load his new lap top computer with internet connections, but i failed kept getting error messages on line, used the same equipment in my house this evening and the conclusion is there must be a fault on his telephone line mmmmmm

Anyway back to the grant aid, I immediately thought of two projects, one is the new play equipment and youth shelter that is almost ready to be installed in the park, and the other could benefit the local youth cricket as the club is investigating the instalation of nets, for juniors to be able to practise? i passed the link on to some of the cricket team members
