Welcome to my online diary, enjoy your stay!
In November 2005 whilst home recovering from an operation I decided to try and design a web page for White Springs Fisheries in Pontarddulais I added an info page on the fishery website page, but as I got more and more involved in community projects, I decided to start this blog in order to keep my community activities and involvement seperate to the fishing. You can email me with comments at slloydjanes@aol.com

By Thursday Morning I was fast running out of time to clean my car out? It had been constantly raining all week. So I decided to pop up to the fishery so that i could clean out my car inside their garage.
On arriving up there at 7.45am i set up my extension lead and got my hoover out and was about to start at 9.15. (Had been talking to fishermen and serving in the shop as anglers all start arriving 8am fo a days fishing), When my dad said to my mum. After talking to me to find out how long i was staying up there.
"Steve is going to be here today shall we take a day off and pop out for a spin somewhere for the day?"
Here reply was "He's sold his car, if you've got nothing to do why don't you take him to the Auctions to buy a new Car" and within ten minutes were on our way up the motorway to Newport car auctions.
It was dry most of the day, however there was one almighty cloud burst and i mean burst, the rain poured down as if a bucket had been tipped up, the water was coming down in sheets, the auctions were flooded and were put on hold for about three minutes, whilst the auctioneers moved the equipment and turned their PA and speakers off as the roof had a massive leak, the gutters couldn't take the flow and the water poured in ontop of the seating area and the rostrum of the auctioneers.
I had wanted another desiel however on arriving there and looking at the rows upon rows of cars there was only about 15 desiels there, out of more than 300 cars, My dad in his wisdom said "You won't buy a desiel car today?" Anyway one came through the ring, we had been watching them start the cars and giving them a quick inspection, (there is the only a short time you can see under the bonnet and boot as six guys were driving these cars through in a convoy, as they park one up they are running up to the next and by the time you walked to the ring the car is almost in the ring) I nodded to my dad we will have a go at this one, and he started his bidding,
"How much have you got and what are you prepared to pay for it?"
"Stop at £4,300" I said, at £3,600 he had moved to the passenger door infront of the auctioneer and I said, "Go on bid again", "It is my bid", "No its not", "Its mine go and pay your deposit"
"Sorry sir that wasn't your bid you stopped at £3,550"
Obviously there was a sharp exchange of words and he said "You can bid on ther next one". A pugeot 405 Desiel was soon in the ring and i bid on it at £2200 and it was knocked down to me and he said "What did you bid on that piece of crap for?" On going to pay the cashier said the owners wanted £2,600 did i want to add to my bid, "They are having a laugh" i said, "I'll have my deposit back please"
So out we went to have another look and there was only two desiels left and about 40 cars total, I Spotted one and said "I'll go £3,500 on this one" and it started at £3,700 and made £4,800, this humoured my dad, "You haven't got a clue, i told you you won't buy a desiel today, there wasn't enough here?"
With thirty five cars left, we had a quick look and i said "I'll buy a petrol, there's a couple of focuses and some nice looking Astras, I'ts got to have four doors and be a 1.6 for econony",
My dad spotted one it was top of the range leather seats, 17,000 miles warrented service history, he said "Have a go at this one", It started at £6000 the bottom book was £8,100 and it made £7,500, it was well out of my price range so obviously there was no bid then a 2002, 1.6 focus came through the ring and as the auctioneer, said going once twice, i raised my hand with one bid, "A new bidder you going again?" the dealer shook his head and i had bought my new car
It was a quick phone call to the AA to change the details of my insurance and then we booked the car out of the auction rooms. By the time i got home the back tyre had gone down It had a puncture, I booked the car in for a service MOT and CAM change for Wednesday as they were fully booked for Friday/ Monday and Tuesday and arranged to borrow my mums car to get to work all weekend.
