Cllr Vernon Hicks and myself arrived on the carnival field at 8.05am and set up the stall ready for the carnival later that day,
By 9.50am we were back in the house ready to have some bacon sandwiches for breakfast and the heavans opened up, it poured down torrential. by about 12pm it had eased off so off we went to deck our stall out and the tables we had left under our gazzeboo were soaked, the stall opposite their tent was leaking and they had gone to B and Q to buy a sheet to put over the top of their tent, as they were going to sell hand crafted cards.
Anyway it took us an hour to set up the stall and Vernon decided to have a well earned brew before the carnival parade arrived

The day despite the heavy showers went extremely well, we managed to sell 95% of our tickets and raised £123 which was extremely pleasing considering the weather.
I'VE ALREADY HAD AN EMAIL OFF THE CARNIVAL PROMOTERS
QUOTE
" Please could you thank everyone, it was tremendous to see the people of Bont
and Hendy pulling together to make the carnival a success, even though the
weather was very bad indeed. Everyone deserves praise for turning out in
such bad conditions, the floats, walkers, stall holders, bands, lorry
drivers and suppliers of the lorries and the people who provided the
entertainment. A big thank you also goes to the shops for entering the
window dressing competition - a magnificent effort was made by one and all
Celia "

As you can see Hendy Pool came third in the best dressed stall. This is the second year on the trot that i've been involved in the carnival and despite getting wet, i'm looking forward to next years carnival which incidentally is the 40th Anniversary, which will probably be a spectacular event to look forward too.
My favourite float was the collar and cuffs float
