how to link kylie to coronation street

well i can't believe i slept all day today, which means i will probably be up all night on the web? i had set my alarm for midday and slept through it.

the web is an amazing tool, the western mail reporter had emailed me about, the post code story i had sent him, he said he has written a piece about it, which will possibly be in tomorrows western mail

i was on the phone to him earlier this evening because he had asked me to ring him, he asked me to keep more info from Hendy coming, so i decided to send him the story about Miss Earth which Kylie was entered, and i was looking at her web space

http://www.myspace.com/kylz4cymru

anyway i was looking at her friends list and in one of her friends list, they had a friend i knew from Tescos Llanelli, "flex"

he worked with us before leaving to do better things he's now living in the USA, it looks like he's really doing well for himself

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=74739748

i was looking through the comments on his thread and one of his friends was on line, so i checked their web page out and one of their friend's included anthony cotton

Which is how you can link Kylie to coronation street

i think later tonight i will be probably look at myspace and start another journal

anyway the web is not the only powerfull tool, the other is the press i also had an email today, from one of the fund managers i met in november when i went to a grant seminar

quote

" Dear Mr Lloydjanes,

I read with interest the recent article in the press on your campaign for the Hendy Lido.  I note that you have had some contact with us (last: 20 November 2006) and that you are planning on submitting an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund.

You may be aware that we currently coming to the end of our current 5 year strategic plan and as a result of recent consultation with grantees, there are going to be some changes to the application procedure.  The note attached explains these changes in detail.

<<HG information sheet June 2007.doc>> attached

Please do get in touch if it is likely that your Committee will submit an application to us.  We welcome the opportunity to discuss projects before an application is submitted.

With best wishes, "

Obviously once we actually finalise the selection of the feasibility study consultant which is pending, we are waiting for a response to a grant we applied for to fund it,

because if we win this grant it will mean we will still have money from our fund raising efforts in our bank account to put towards the next stages of the process.

on july 12th i made an entry into this blogg

http://grasscarper.bravejournal.com/archive/07/12/2007

i had missed the paper that day but had been given a copy later, but last night in work, i was reading monday nights evening post and the same story was reprinted again, the only difference was the photo was slightly different,

the post must have been short of a story to reprint the story, but i can guarentee you the pool will remain in the press, watch this space for news as it develops

back in December 2006 the county officers came to a meeting and amazingly they denied ever making us an offer of a grant of £65,000, which was made if we took the pool lease on for £1, this offer was made in front of 22 pool members and two assembly members who were present Helen Mary and Catherine Thomas, the local reporter even published the story about the offer,

I believe the county representatives were very silly to even consider denying ever making such an offer given there were 24 people present including two assembly members, Helen Mary has even confirmed in an email to a local campaigner that she was present at the meeting when the offer was made.

Lido seeks cash lifeline or risks going under

Jan 16 2007

Sam Burson, Western Mail

ONE of the last lidos in Wales will be filled in this spring if a planned deal to save it falls by the wayside.

The local authority is denying backing out of the agreement to help campaigners trying to save one of the last of the historic outdoor pools in Wales.

The pool at Hendy, near Llanelli in Carmarthenshire, has not been in use since 2002, and needs to be completely rebuilt if it is to be put back in operation.

But locals are still hopeful it can be restored to its former glory if enough investment is thrown its way.

They have had a series of meetings with Carmarthenshire County Council about the possibility, and attracted thousands in potential funding.

But they say they have been badly let down by council decisions and say previous promises of financial help - including an alleged £65,000 - have been withdrawn.

However the Carmarthenshire authority says no such agreement was ever made. It says the pool would cost many times that amount to rebuild and that the money will have to be raised from grants and other sources.

A letter sent out on Friday from Hendy Pool and Park Committee chairman Calfyn Evans to other supporters said, "At a meeting on December 13 2006, the County Council made it clear that they have no plans to reopen the pool, or indeed to apply for any funding for such a project and stated the pool and park could be leased off them.

"If we still want a pool then it seems that it is up to us as a community to raise the funds and ultimately manage the project.

"This would require considerable commitment from all involved in terms of time and input and responsibility, as it will entail setting up a charitable company, making grant applications and, if successful, managing a facility and acting as an employing body."

Committee member Steve Lloydjanes also accused the council of reneging on a promise to pay £65,000 towards the cause during the December meeting.

However Clive Scourfield, the council's executive board member for regeneration, yesterday insisted no offer of £65,000 had ever been made.

He said, "Last year we offered the pool to them for £1.

"They said a local contractor could put a new one in for £65,000.

"I told them it would be more likely to be much more, but that if it could be done then that would be an appealing prospect.

"But all I can do as executive board member is approve grants.

"I don't have a budget that I can give, and could never commit the council to £65,000. I never made such an offer."

He also said the council had researched the costs of a new pool fully compliant with disability rights and it was far in excess of what the committee had discussed.

Councillor Scourfield said, "Three estimates were sought for the cost of a new pool, all of which were between about £430,000 and £450,000.

"We've also looked for grant sources."

He said such sums could not be justified with a pool expected to attract less than 3,000 visitors per year, when leisure centres, attracting hundreds of thousands, also had to be paid for.

Mr Scourfield also said the county council could not be the lead applicant for any grants, as maintenance costs would run too high for its stretched leisure budget.

The committee are now being given until May to find out whether Hendy Community Council can manage any new versions of the pool.

He added, "We need to give it to May to give the community council a chance to look at it.

"If the pool is closed we'll have to landscape the area, and review what to do with it."
