Hendy RFC Quiz team suffered a comprehensive defeat at the hands of King Hotel last weekend. The side missed the calming influence of skipper Neil Lewis who was absent, and the team were panicking and guessing some of the answers during the contest and were kicking themselves when they heard the answers. Full marks to the knowledgeable King Hotel. In the abscence of the skipper Spike Thomas took over as skipper the squad of David Halsall, Peter Davies and Geraint Owain Price.

Llanedi Community Council
The community council held its meeting last week. This year the council have decided to hold its annual Christmas dinner in the Black Horse in Hendy. During the meeting there had been further letters of complaints recieved about the decision made by the new council, not to sing any amthems at the Remberance Sunday Service, the clerk stated that there had been letters recieved last month which he had read out last month and now this month and a number of locals had also phoned him, and locals had raised concerns on the day. The clerk adviced that the council would have to possibly consider reviewing the decision later next year when they plan next years service. Relatives of Gral Davies now living in Edingburgh returned to Hendy to visit cousins, to remember him on his 90th birthday, When he had passed away they had donated a bench in his memory which had been situated in the Hendy pool area, they were shocked at the sad state of the pool and the fact that the bench was missing, the community council decided that when the two new benches get placed in the Arlan Gwili complex, they would restore a bench salvaging at least one out of the two that they are replacing and as a guesture to the family they would place a new bench in the park area, the relatives will be providing a plague to place on the bench in his memory.
Traffic Issues
Recently PCSO Steve Lloyd and myself met highway officers in Hendy to discuss issues that we have both recieved from residents of the village, The oficers have marked out and measured space for keep clear markings at the junction of the M4 and Talycoed, this will help residents wishing to leave the street in the early morning rush hour traffic, currently when the lights are on red residents sometimes find it difficult to exit Talycoed to get onto the M4, Officers for the highways also travelled up the Bronallt hill and witnessed the lack of one way pointers, there has been a high number of vehicles travelling up the one way road to deliver goods etc and they then turn around and travell back down the wrong way, The county officers stated once several directional one way signs are in place it will make drivers visiting the road more aware of the one way system.
