Hendy Eisteddfod

The Eisteddfod this year was a great success. The competitions started at 11.00 in the morning for local children, and the open competitions began at 1.00. The Hendy school hall was almost full to capacity throughout the day and the audience thoroughly enjoyed a feast of Welsh culture. The aelwyd committee who organised the event are very grateful to everybody who helped to make this one of the best Eisteddfods yet! We were particularly grateful to the local children who competed both on stage and in the art and craft section. Thanks also to all who supported us with grants and donations. Without your help this event would not be possible. We look forward now to Hendy Eisteddfod 2008!

Eisteddfod

Hendy Yr oedd yr eisteddfod eleni yn llwyddiant eithriadol. Fe ddechreuodd y cystadlu yn brydlon am 11.00 gyda'r plant lleol ac yna y cystadleuthau agored am 1.00. Fe ddaeth y cyfan i ben yn hwylus iawn cyn un ar ddeg y nos gyda'r her unawd ,a naw o unawdwyr o bell ac agos yn cystadlu. Bardd y gadair eleni oedd Graham Williams, neu Cefnfab fel mae pawb yn ei nabod, o Gefnbrynbrain. Braf oedd gweld y neuadd yn llawn ar gyfer yr eisteddfod drwy'r dydd a diolch i bawb wnaeth ein cefnogi. Diolch yn arbennig i 'r plant lleol am gefnogi y cystadleuthau lleol ar y llwyfan ac yn yr adran gelf a chrefft. Hoffai trefnwyr yr eisteddfod, sef pwyllgor yr aelwyd, ddiolch o galon hefyd i bawb wnaeth ein cynorthwyo yn ariannol gyda grantiau a rhoddion...y mae ein dyled yn fawr i chi ac mae eich cyfraniadau wedi sicrhau ein bod wedi cynnal gwledd o diwylliant Cymraeg yn yr ardal. Edrychwn ymlaen nawr at Eisteddfod 2008!

Pontarddulais Town Council will be holding a party in the park, called Summer Sensation in July. It entails a Queen Tribute band and supporting acts plus a hog roast. The council are hoping many people will attend and support. I’m sure it will be a good evening’s entertainment.
