In November 2005 whilst home recovering from an operation I decided to try and design a web page for White Springs Fisheries in Pontarddulais I added an info page on the fishery website page, but as I got more and more involved in community projects, I decided to start this blog in order to keep my community activities and involvement seperate to the fishing. I am involved in the Llanelli CAB
I am the current secretary of the Hendy Pool and Parks Committee
I am also a member of the Pontarddulais and Hendy District Carnival Committee. Which will be celebrating its 40th year this year.
I have been a member of USDAW since 1989 and I am the Llanelli Usdaw Union Branch Secretary, I have done a lot of campaigning with Usdaw and I often appear in the quarterly magazine that gets published and sent to Usdaw Members, here's just one example
I have also been Hendy community councillor on Llanedi Community Council since 2004 and as a councillor, I also represent the council as a member of the Hendy School Govenoring Body.

Hendy Carnival
Saturday 30th June will soon be here there’s still time to apply for a stall on carnival field. The cost of a stall is £15 for charities £20 for small craft stalls. Were you thinking about entering a lorry in the carnival parade, the Festival Committee will give a £50 grant to any lorry entered (subject to conditions).Your lorry could also be a prize winner and win a trophy or money. 1st Prize - £75, 2nd Prize - £50, 3rd Prize - £25.
Please make a picture/collage using a range of various materials such as Wool, Paper, String, Glitter, the theme for you artwork must be on Cowboys and Indians. Put your name, age and address on the back and send or take the picture to Mrs. N. Rees 69 Glanyrafon Rd, Pontarddulais, Swansea. Closing date is 24th June, 2007.

Annual Meeting
The Pontarddulais & Hendy Festival Committee will also be holding their AGM at Pontarddulais Rugby Club on Thursday 21st June, 2007 at 7.30 pm.
Local MP Surgeries
The Pontarddulais MP Martin Caton and Edwina Hart will be holding a monthly surgery in the Mechanics Institute on Friday 6th July at 4pm. Nia Griffith the Llanelli MP will be in Hendy holding a surgery on Friday 29th June in the Cricket Club from 5pm till 6pm.
Hendy Rugby Club
There will be a Marquee Charity Sporting Auction on Friday, June 29th at Hendy RFC and car park. The entertainment of the evening will include Llanelli Male Voice Choir, with music from “The Somethings” and “Long Way Round”. Donations from top sporting stars have been given to auction off, plus other spot prizes and raffles. The event will be supported and chaired by Stuart Cable of the Stereophonics. Fitness
The Shiru Karate Club are holding classes in the Mechanics Institute St Teilo St Pontarddulais with professional tuition and qualified insured instructors of traditional Wado Ryu Karate Class times are Tuesdays 5.30pm till 7.00pm. for all grades and On Saturdays for beginners 10.00am till 11.00pm, and 11.00pm till 12.00pm for Yellow Belts and Over.
Party in the Park
Pontarddulais Town Council is planning on having a party in the park, called Summer Sensation on 28th July. There will be a Queen Tribute band and supporting acts plus a hog roast.
