Local MP Surgeries

 

Friday 29th June Nia Griffith the Llanelli MP will be in Hendy holding a surgery in the Cricket Club from 5pm till 6pm.The Pontarddulais MP Martin Caton and Edwina Hart AM, will be holding a monthly surgery in the Mechanics Institute on Friday 6th July at 4pm

 

Hendy Rugby Club

 

There will be a Marquee Charity Sporting Auction Friday, June 29th at Hendy RFC and car park. The entertainment of the evening will include Llanelli Male Voice Choir, with music from "The Something's" and "Long Way Round". Donations from top sporting stars have been given to auction off, plus other spot prizes and raffles. The event will be supported and chaired by Stuart Cable of the Stereophonics. All proceeds will be raised in aid of Haematology Cancer Unit Singleton Hospital. Tickets to enter the event are £10 available from the Rugby Clubhouse. Hendy and Pontarddulais Carnival

 

The Parade will be taking place on Saturday 30th June starting in Hendy and travelling through Pontarddulais to Coed Bach Park. Hendy Pool committee will have a stall on the field please come and support and any information about the campaign to save the pool will be happily discussed by committee members

 

Summer Sensation

 

Cyngor Tref Pontarddulais town council will be proudly presenting at Coed Bach Park Pontarddulais on Saturday 28th July gates open at 4pm "Night at the Opera" a Queen tribute concert. They will be supported by an "Elvis tribute" and "2 plus1" 70's and 80's music. The event will be compared by D.J. Chris Smithy. Hendy Park

 

Last week the county council contractors started preparing the ground work for the new park equipment that they have promised to reinstall after they removed the faulty equipment last September

 

Hendy Pool and Parks committee

 

The next monthly meeting has been moved to the second Tuesday of the month which is the 10th July. Three consultant firms replied to the tender request, at this meeting the committee will be studying the tender quotations for the feasibility study and deciding if any of the quotations are acceptable.

 

Pontarddulais Walking Club

 

Members would like to thank Peter and Allison Walters for leading last weeks walk, which took place in the South Beacons. The walk included the Mountain of Cefn Yr Ystrad and its environs. The group had a stunning lunch stop at Bryniau Gleision overlooking the Talybont reservoir. The majestic and spectacular scenery on such a fine summer's day was enjoyed by all the trekkers. The club welcomes any new walkers and meet every Sunday morning at 9am in the car park by the Pontarddulais Library.

 

Footpaths in Hendy

 

Eighteen months ago local residents raised concerns about footpaths in Hendy with local councillors. As a result of requests from the community council, and the local MP Nia Griffith, the local enforcement officers have applied for a diversion of the Registered Public Footpath 34/43, Which travels from Ronald Road to Sawell Terrace Hendy, this path had been obstructed by a building and the enforcement officers have stated the new diversion should be completed by September.
