Welcome to my online diary, enjoy your stay!
In November 2005 whilst home recovering from an operation I decided to try and design a web page for White Springs Fisheries in Pontarddulais I added an info page on the fishery website page, but as I got more and more involved in community projects, I decided to start this blog in order to keep my community activities and involvement seperate to the fishing. You can email me with comments at slloydjanes@aol.com
Info about me
I am involved in the Llanelli CAB
I am the current secretary of the Hendy Pool and Parks Committee
I am also a member of the Pontarddulais and Hendy District Carnival Committee. Which will be celebrating its 40th year this year.
I have been a member of USDAW since 1989 and I am the Llanelli Usdaw Union Branch Secretary, I have done a lot of campaigning with Usdaw and I often appear in the quarterly magazine that gets published and sent to Usdaw Members, here's just one example
I have also been Hendy community councillor on Llanedi Community Council since 2004 and as a councillor, I also represent the council as a member of the Hendy School Govenoring Body.
The contents of this site is written and published by Stephen Lloyd-Janes of Iscoed Road Hendy who will be a Labour and Co-op candidate for the local County Council elections on May 1st 2008
Here's a short catch up of my activities in the community, last week myself and Vernon were out delivering the Labour Rose and the scout survey and the post code survey. We had run out of the initial 500 batch and on collecting the next batch on Thursday of last week, we were told we were 100 short as the tonning cartridge had given the ghost
and it would be a week for delivery by post from the suppliers?
So about 80 houses in the village missed out on the survey.
Anyway Friday morning we popped to Ammanford to visit the web designer for the both sides/ Hendy Pool Web site and the initial designes are looking good. After about 2 and 1/2 hours in the office discussing designs typing text etc, I switched my mobile on only to be greeted by the answer phone symbol on my phone, I had 15 minutes to get from Ammanford to Hendy School to attend a special governors meeting with the governors and a county officer, to discuss the new fire exits as they were not very safe on a few points, the first week of the school opening they were fenced off, the county officer said there were some minor adjustmants to be made to make them safe, the hand rails were one of the items that needed changing?
Friday evening i then attended a meeting in Llanelli prior to going to work, there's no piece for the wicked
, I was working all weekend and today I was back in the community, delivered the last of the second batch of surveys, However the Scouts rung me they were desperate for the survey back, apparently their consultants doing the analaysis of their study wanted to complete the stats for their funding bid, so I collected the completed forms and whilst there were some 30 plus of the post code survey, there was only 3 in the fforest and 4 in the Hendy post office returned for the scouts, which is pretty shocking and dissapointing really?
On discussion with the scouts we went to the Pontarddulais Comp and the head master was true to his word last Thursday. Last Thursday he said if he could help the community to address the anti sociable behavior he would help any organisation that wanted help. So we went there and asked for the pupils to complete a survey and within the hour we had 75 completed forms, which we will now be giving to the consultants to work out their stats and figures.
Going to spend the rest of the evening scanning in the results of the survey onto my pc, before i hand them over to the scouts, so that i can forward the survey to the consultants that are working on the feasibility study for the Hendy Pool.
Got another busy day tommorrow, doing a police surgery followed by a community council meeting, as i said earlier there's no piece for the wicked
