Hendy Senior Citizens
Chairman Roy Evans welcomed everyone to the last meeting including Mrs Margret Bowen who had been absent through illness, The minutes of the previous meeting held in the Urdd Hall, were read out by Rheidol Williams, Everyone discussed the success of the meal held in the Bridge Inn in Llangennech and it was decided to hold a return visit in a few weeks dates to be arranged, there was some correspondence from Carmarthen County Council relating to some officers and speakers who would like to give some speeches and presentations to the group. The guest speaker to this meeting had cancelled at very short notice so Rheidol took the realms and gave a speech on some local history and some stories from the old dairies and how some of the local residents who were wealthy would travel to London, there were also discussions about some local public houses in the area which have long since vanished, including one in wernbwll and that two of the cottages in the same area were once stables before being converted into cottages by a wealth business man to make homes for his two daughters, this interesting story was very lively and several older members helped Rheidol by adding their own relocation's with some of the facts and memories of the area. Following an excellent debate and speech, refreshments were served and raffle prizes were won by Hanna, Gladys, Rheidol, Edwina and Myfanwy, the next meeting will be taking place on Wednesday 24th June, the club meet every fortnight and new members would be welcomed
