hendy news

Having had two weeks off work from county council and also my other employement, i've not made any enteries

 

but know that i'm back in the village here's my Hendy news

Concert
 
Saint David's Church in Hendy is holding a grand concert on Friday 11th September, which will feature Llandovery Male Voice Choir which will also be supported by conductor: Mrs Lynne Jones,  Accompanist: Mrs Elaine Robbins,  with Ann Marie Richards, Soprano and Jonathon Rogers, Baritone, the compere for the evening is Delyth Mai Nicholas, this is a ticket event at £7 to obtain further info or tickets please ring either  884653 or 882623
 
Community Surgeries
 
Councillor Steve Lloyd-janes will be holding his regular monthly surgery on the last Saturday of the month between 9am and 10am at Arlan Gwili sheltered housing complex
 
 
Pontarddulais walking club
 
Members of the club would like to thank Mr Gareth Rees for leading the trek to the Brecknock Beacons. The trek started at the isolated rural village of Trefil.For once the weather relented and the group were blessed with a beautiful summers day. Lunch was taken on the mountainside of Tor-Y- Foel with splendid panoramic views of Talybont Reservoir and the scenic Cwmcrawnon valley. The group then followed the ancient tramway of Brinore, that many years ago quarry stone was taken down the valley to the barges on the Usk canal. Congratulations must go to club secretary Mr Alan Richards on his publication of the book, "Great Walks in Carmarthenshire". Many long hours of research and history by Alan of the locality of these walks, makes this book splendid reading indeed.
